Trippin'

I know it’s coming
There’s going to be violence;
I’ve taken as much
As I’m willing to take;
Why do you think
We should suffer in silence?
When a heart is broken;
There’s nothing to break.

life goes on.

although we weren't really in the same stature as the other "idols", we were treated really, really well. i mean, free food, briefings, rehearsals...it was the full shebang. it was a great experience, and i made a whole bunch of friends. whose phone numbers i didn't take down. marvellous, eh? in passing, i suppose that i would've done a few things differently, but i'm kinda happy with the way it turned out.

monday is going to be interesting. i was supposed to sit for an advanced stats test yesterday, but it was delayed to the first day of the week. i'm totally unprepared. tomorrow's going to be spent cramming for it, amongst other things. and i'm just in time for the grand prix.

i suppose that blogging will return to its normal schedule. it's been erratic of life. though there's been nothing worth talking about, really.

for those of you who came last night, thank you. i owe you guys. uh. glasses of water. (eh, come on...i need that money).

a matter of perspective.

uh.

#1: zouk wasn't ready for me
#2: i wasn't ready for zouk
#3: i was just tempted to fuck it all up from the start.

rock dj was a bad song selection. i'll admit it now. i should've stuck with U2. even the sponsors were hoping i would.

altogether now, kids...

AIYOH.

though i'm quite happy with the acting. but the special talent....it wasn't so special. it is impossible for me to beatbox legitimately and play the guitar at the same time. i tried.

but at least i won some cash. and had oodles of fun. and learnt that i still can attract girls in my own fat state.

praise be to God. rock 'n roll.

some prospects are just too terrifying.

mention my lecturers going to zouk to watch me perform, and i'd laugh. but when the realization comes that it might actually happen, the worrying starts. forgive me for the bad grammar. i looked into my inbox to find that HELP's CEO/president/big momma gun had sent me an email wishing me luck. the right news reaches the wrong places. it's a bit worrying, in a way. i feel that i have to give these people their money's worth. never mind that the tickets are free, what about the parking?

so i shall give you all your RM 10 money's worth. or more.

my voice is at 65%. sigh. more waiting.

bad news comes dressed in a tartan.

i've got to sing on friday.

my voice has been gone since sunday.

it's going to be a wednesday.

i've got 2 days to heal up.

it's not getting any better.

ugh.

karaoke is evil.

baby's down on the world coz she owns it.

sometimes a manic, uninspired, sloppy and cliched performance is what the doctor ordered. and you know that something good came out of it if it took you to the next level...however, i can see why some people might not approve of a fat chinese idiot singing to two cameras and running all over a stage area. but hey, it wasn't that bad...it got me through. so there's got to be something i did right. the present dilemma is what to sing for the final...i'm swaying between bon jovi's it's my life (pure cheesiness, but it might work) and u2's vertigo (the minus one sounds awful).

sigh.

yet even MORE changes.

uh. i don't know who's going to watch me perform. at this rate, it's rather.........bad. and they've changed my scheduled performance time again, so i really don't know when i'm performing. uh. please come. please. it starts at 1:15 (come at 2, anyway)..........ugh.

lordy.

it'd be worth it. let me entertain you.

Friday, September 09, 2005

changes, changes.

okay.

the event starts at 2 o'clock on sunday. if you arrive on time, you can see my audition, which was, if i can say so, turbular.

i've been scheduled to sing at around 4:50. come and watch me! please.

it's at the new wing of 1 utama. ugh. friendly, familiar faces would be nice.

i'm screwed.

Stab at Greatness!

Previously:
I joined the Wrigley's College Icon round that was held at HELP. I shouted out the Foo's Best of You, acted out a sketch and became a human beatbox.

Last night, I received a call telling me that I was a semi-finalist.

Tomorrow, I've got to go down to KL for a briefing. Saturday involves going back there for a dress rehearsal, and Sunday's the performance. I've got Robbie's Let Me Entertain You prepped, because it's the only good song I have on karaoke/minus-one.

The "gig" (I wouldn't really call it that) is at 1 Utama on Sunday night. It starts at 8:30 p.m. Or it could be in the morning (highly unlikely, but....you never know).

If you'd like to see me act like a monkey, here's your chance. Your support would be appreciated. Feel free to laugh, but just be there.

All About Molly.

In the effort to bring more colour into my life, here's a dosage of pink. This is Molly. She's the lead vocalist/guitarist of the Faders, she's English, and she's 17. 'Nuff said.

Monza = Unlucky.

Monty won, but today's race just proved how brilliant Kimi is. We've already seen Alonso start from the back of the pack, but today I was convinced that Kimi could beat him anytime, barring any reliability issues that the big Mc would be having. From 11th to 2nd to 11th to 4th. It's a pity that Williams have been underperforming as well, but I suppose that you can't win them all.

Prelude to Monza '05.

Unfair, in a way. Kimi has been moved down 10 spots due to an engine change; fastest in Monza, but Montoya gets the pole. Ultimately, it's up to Kimi to move up (he's done it before, so it shouldn't be so bad). It's gonna be Monty, Alonso and Button starting from 1st to 3rd.

Running away to find home.

Ipoh has fantastic white coffee. It keeps you going, even when you don’t want to be kept going. As we were driving back from Ipoh, on the highway, those who had consumed the boiling broth were singing a catalogue of 80’s and early 90’s hits together.

Ipoh also has fantastic noodles. As we chanced upon a self-proclaimed “specialist” in noodles, who also claimed to be “the best in town”, we became believers.

Ipoh girls also go out with their families. Their innocence has been preserved, thanks to the diligent mothers in Ipoh who don’t want their daughters to be ravaged by the dangers of the outside world as they go to their yum char sessions alone.

We were on a quest. A quest to find the legendary Golden Village of Jungle Women. We had found the secret map upon the entrance of the A’ Famosa, whereby the precise location of the Village was given to us. We were showed that the Village was close to Ipoh, the capital of Perak.

(How we ascertained the location of the Village, I can’t tell you. I simply can’t, because I can’t remember how Justin actually had the cockamamie idea to superimpose a proper map of Peninsula Malaysia onto this picture of the A’Famosa’s entrance. Anyway, after the addition of a penis [it has to be seen to be believed!] to the A’Famosa’s façade, and many longitudinal and latitudinal lines later, we reached our conclusion. This was a lengthy process that can be showed over a few mouseclicks but cannot be described in words).

It was our way of celebrating our Malaysian roots: by unearthing a lost Malaysian treasure…the Golden Village of Jungle Women.

Theo, Sazman, Justin and I took the fabled smoke-blue Landeater Proton Iswara GLi 1.5. Now, there’re two routes that you can take to Ipoh, and in my haste, I directed us to the wrong one. If anyone’s interested, the fastest way to Ipoh is to get to Jalan Kuching and never look back. This is known as Route 1, which can also be called the real North-South Highway. I assumed that we could take our normal route to Lumut and reach Teluk Intan and go to Ipoh from there, but I was mistaken. It’s a good thing we had our fabled roadtrip map for the ride. We veered slightly off-course, but it was a good thing that we were still in the Rawang vicinity when I realized my mistake.

At this point, I’d like to tell you all that Justin was driving.

Our trip was uneventful until we chanced upon the funkiest black Kenari you’d ever seen in your life. Black, with external blue neon lights everywhere. We chased the thing for a good portion of the time --- we were sad to see it go.

We arrived in Ipoh a little after midnight. Our initial reaction was that it’s an awesome town. In my memory, it was really my first time there. A day trip is in order, because there’d obviously be a lot more things to see.

As for the Village; we never really did find it. But there’s always a next time involved with intrepid explorers like ourselves.

My arse.

Road conditions were fairly good, and it was toll-free. It took us about 3 hours+, but it was still worthwhile. There's actually quite a bit to see along the way. I’d also say that taking the same route back to KL would’ve been more economical. In the Landeater, it was about RM 60 spent on gas. Food in Ipoh wasn’t that bad, because Theo and Justin spent more money due to eating more, but it came down to about RM 7 to RM 15 per person. The noodles came in soup, with a bowl of pork balls (8), and a whole chicken. It was worth it.

The coffee was RM 1.50 per glass. Theo, Saz and I had about 2 glasses, and Theo bought back 2 whole packs for about RM 12 per pack, if I’m not wrong. Good stuff. Strong stuff. Bad news.

Anyway, last night involved finding the legendary lovers’ cliff in Cheras. We tried looking, but we couldn’t find it. If there’s anyone who can tell me where it is, please tell me. Where’s Bukit Miharja?

On a bright note, don’t go to the Projet on the East-West link in Cheras…visit the Esso for all your culinary needs, especially if you’re feeling hungry at 3 in the morning; Esso sells their wares at a cheaper price.

This has been a week of road living, in a sense.

Anyway, will try getting photos to post.

Blame it on HIM.

It’s all Justin’s fault. He was talking about creating a new blog and adding even more customizations. I felt like it needed a new address.

The Pulp Is Good.

I’ve just returned from a manic trip to Ipoh. More on that later or at some other time, though I can say that thanks to its white coffee, I’m a nervous bundle of energy right now. And I feel like throwing up. Badly. For the time being, enjoy this one page of Pussycat, which was a Marvel pulp feature that the company disassociated itself from for some strange reason. Click on the image below for the bigger picture. Bad pun.
